Our Inclusive Theater program is a welcoming and supportive month-long experience for high school students and young adults of all abilities, along with siblings and allies. Meeting twice a week, this class is thoughtfully designed so everyone can feel safe, comfortable, and able to participate in a way that works for them.

Inclusion here means creating a flexible, encouraging environment with clear structure and meaningful support, so each individual feels confident, valued, and has the opportunity to shine onstage and be celebrated. Led by Ms. K, former theater director at Sherwood High School and now at Walter Johnson High School, this program is guided by an educator with extensive experience working with students of all abilities. Ms. K brings both a deep love of theater and a strong understanding of how to adapt, scaffold, and support each performer so they can truly succeed.

Throughout the program, participants will explore acting, movement, storytelling, and character development through engaging, accessible activities and ensemble-building exercises. The experience culminates in a joyful showcase inspired by a montage of classic fairy tales, where each performer plays a meaningful role in bringing these timeless stories to life onstage.

To ensure every participant has the support they need to thrive, individuals who typically require one-to-one support in their daily routines are asked to attend with their support person. This helps us create the most positive, successful, and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
